Absa dishonest 3 month payment holiday
ABSA REVIEW
I am Afrikaans speaking but will try my best to explain in English my total disappointment in Absa Bank.
Never missed a payment on my Vehicle Finance before. Then my husband got retrenched December 2019 and Covid19 Lockdown happened March 2020!!! Absa promised their clients a 3 (three) month payment holiday available from 30 March 2020. I've app**** on an email received from Absa and after a while two ladies respectively phoned me from Absa. They were fully aware of my problem and assure me not to worry and promise that I soon will hear from Absa to arrange the help I've asked for as long as no other instalments on my account was missed. I could luckily manage to resume full monthly payments on 1 August 2020 and never missed since. After a while Mr Graham Ward phoned and ask me about my situation and calmly requested the needed documents i.e proof of up-to-date insurance confirmation and a copy of my application. I mailed this to Mr Ward and he assured me of Absa’s assistance in this.
Then as I was on my way to work one morning Mr Derick Lotz who has taken over my case and exchanged emails twice, phoned me in a very annoying tone and threatened me with further legal action, summons via High Court and repossessing of my car. He was very rude to me and therefore I then decided to visit my local branch in Paarl on 14/05/2021 - without any success. I took off from work on 14/05/2021 and visited Absa branch in Paarl to try getting some sort of arrangement confirmed but was told that they do not have any consultants to speak too on site and that I can phone their internal departments from their premises. Everything according to them should be done online. I then spoke to Elizabeth who put me through to Lindile at the collections/arrears department. None of them could understand why I was not assisted by Mr Derick Lotz. I told both of them that Mr Derick Lotz at first told me that he will try his best to assist me but then afterwards according to him the Absa Call Centre couldn't get hold of me during office hours (that was while I was working and my phone locked away as I've earlier explained to Mr Lotz). I was full time available on my email as I also explained to Mr Lotz. I got his mail back where he promised me that he would ask them to correspond with me via email. I've asked Mr Lotz if I could meet up with a consultant if it was possible and they probably need anything else from me. He told me I should just answer my phone when the Call Centre phones………
On 24/05/2021 at 19h55 a Letter of Demand was served on me and the Sheriff warned me that he would soon serve a Summons it I do not pay the amount Absa demands. On 26/05/2021 I emailed (with explaining attachments and records showing my husbands' retrenchment) the Attorneys Office and a lady returned my email with just one question: Would I be able to confirm that I will pay back the amount in arrears within 6 (six) months.................
I really want to see the person who can manage to pay R14 909 within 6 months in this still uncertain times ...... and still manage to live without full Income?
Unbelievable how this Institution tries to come off on their clients as if there never were promises.....
