ABSA ***** Department does not investigate accounts that are reported to be operated *****ulently.

This is a complaint about the ABSA ***** Department.

It came to my attention that an ABSA account operated by a woman (Brigitte) claiming to run a business called UIF4Mommies (Pty) Ltd and assisting moms with maternity UIF claims is being used *****ulently.

I reported it in October when I realised that I was a victim of this **** operated via the internet (UIF4Mommies).

This was confirmed when I did a search on Hello Peter and found more than 7 complaints about the same company and people not receiveing any service, feedback or their money back.

The person from ABSA on the other end of the line (Innocent) gave me an ABSA ref no. and suggested I go to SAPS to report it and get a case number.

I did so and then mailed it back to ABSA in order for them to take the case further for investigation.

A few days later a person by the name of Nqobile Nhlapo sent me a letter via mail stating that they will no longer investigate the case as the problem did not emanate from ABSA and that I basically was a victim of *****.

I mailed back to say that I understand that I will not see my money again, but that I think it is important they follow up on the way that account is operated and that I basically want to warn everyone else to not fall in the same trap as I did.

I did not hear back from ABSA again.

Yesterday by chance I learnt via social media that someone else made use of the same lady's services and I warned her earnestly to make sure about this person before any payment is made.

Unfortunately the person already made payment and what do you know - the exact same account at ABSA was given to her, so the account is still active!

So ABSA, you are not honest and you are not flagging this account and investigating what is going on here.

I want to take this matter further with the help of a legal person as I can see that the bank is definitely not going to protect the interests of the poor customers who are being done in!
