ABSA deceased Estates is Terrible
Good Day,
Absa deceased Estates department I have ever had to deal with and let me explain why.... I am the executor of my late grandmothers estate and she passed away in 2021. My grandmother had a Will with ABSA bank that the whole family knew about but it was hard for us(the family) to get hold of the Will so we decided to get help from a law firm called K Tshabalala and Associates to help us administer the Estate and get all the relevant documents needed to wind-up the Estate.
The law firm was really there for us and it was able to get the Will from ABSA and then proceed to get the letter of Executorship which the family decided that it must be in my name and this all happened in 2025.
Now fast forward, policy monies get pain into my Late grandmothers ABSA account (which I expected to be closed as we sent them all the documents reporting that my gran passed away but Ge). We were then informed that we need to formally write them a letter and instruct the bank to close all account/policies that my gran had and submit all the relevant documentation which my attorneys did in December of 2025. ABSA then sent an E-mail saying everything will be finalized in 30 working days. To date I as the executor nor my attorneys receive any communication from ABSA. We have been calling them Every single day for the past 2 months but all the Call center consultants can do is to Escalate the matter and I am not even sure they do that anymore but the say they do but the FICA verifications department just doesn't respond. My attorneys have been sent from one person to the next and know one has a clear answer for us. We have asked to come to there offices but there are no walkins allowed. They say going to an Absa branch so that they can verify me and my documents is useless because the branch apparently can not verify if I am who I say I am.
We have reached out to the global complaints department and they sounded like they would resolve or at least communicate with us but that has not happened but what did I expect it an ABSA department.
The monies that we have spent on this ordeal with ABSA has been so much and ABSA just doesn't care or show any sympathy or compassion. All they are good at is charging bank charges I actually wonder if my grans account has been getting bank charges even if ABSA was told years back that she has passed on?
