ABSA Deceased Estates & Complaints - Unacceptable Service
During July 2021 we lost our mother, a long standing and loyal customer of ABSA. Since her passing and following securing of the appropriate documentation an approach was made to ABSA for settlement of the funds that needed to be released from her accounts. Numerous follow ups have been undertaken with ABSA Deceased Estates. The bank's representatives keep indicating that the matter is undergoing FICA and has been escalated. A manager was scheduled to return my call following a message with an agent, to date no feedback. In the interim we have to carry the financial burden for which provision has been made, with ABSA holding onto our mother's funds. A complaint was lodged with the bank's channel, to date no response has been received. We preach financial planning, but what's the point when a supposedly trusted institution such as ABSA can not honour and fulfil its obligations in this regard. Losing a parent is traumatic enough and to have further pain inflicted by ABSA is totally unacceptable.
