ABSA Deceased Estate - Very poor and unsatisfactory service delivery

On the 30th of July I notified ABSA's deceased estate of the passing of my husband. I further requested that the banking details be changed into mine, to ensure that the account is kept up to date, while the Estate matters are being concluded.

This morning I called the homeloans department to enquire on the payment arrangements, I was told that there is an amount in arrears of +- R9000.00 on the account already. Can I get clarity on why this is the case when you have the correct account number on the system and why the debit order was not deducted as arranged. If this is a way of scheming people money, it is totally unacceptable, considering that a lot of people are trying to come to terms with the loss of their loved ones.

This process is not supposed to cause the bereaved any more stress, but it seems as though your Organisation is just trying to get the most out of a sad situation. I was further told to contact ***3, only to be told by the automatic response that the call cannot be answered and I should call later. For a big bank like yourselves, this is an utter disgrace and totally unacceptable.

I wish to state that I will not be paying any amount in arrears when the necessary arrangements were made from my side. I therefore request that I be contacted urgently to resolve this matter.
