ABSA Deceased Estate Department

My beef is with ABSA Deceased Estates Department. I am the executor of my late mother's estate. I have filed all the paperwork with the branch in Brackenhurst Alberton on 26 Janauary 2024. We were told a 3 week turnaround time. A month later, on the 27th February 2024, I went back to the branch to enquire about the progress of the account closure. I was directed to the branch phone and told I could phone myself. After holding on for 23 minutes, the result was - I needed a case file number. The very lovely lady that helped me with the paperwork in the first place phoned the Deceased Estate Dept. She was told, they had changed their email address and never received our documents. Now the question bears asking - how inefficient is the IT department to not keep ALL the branches nationwide informed of communication route changes? The documents were resubmitted on the 27th February 2024 and finally a case file number obtained. I phoned said Estate department on 13 March 2024, I was informed the case is verified and at Payments Department. I have just phoned again today 2 April 2024, just to be told, the case is with the Payments dept, but it is not finalised yet. How long does it take to load an EFT to pay the funds of a closure account to the beneficiaries? Either they are: 1. Lazy 2. *********** 3. Deliberately delaying as long as possible to pocket as much interest off the funds that need to be transferred to beneficiaries

I must admit the level of service is pathetic. The Nedbank account was closed in 10 days (weekend included), no issues or problems
