Absa death benefit

Hi trust you well,

Recently my uncle had passed on at the age of 76 he was a pensioner was never married no kids and he was banking with Absa his entire life. We knowing he has a death benefit plan of R20000 so we could do his funeral and whatever else needed to done as he has no wife or kids I was the beneficiary of all his assets so when we did call Absa they say they did away with it last year they did notifi us nothing we had to borrow money to do his funeral now we sitting with death on our hands know we had that money to sort everything out please we need some assistance in this matter urgently
