Absa Credit Life - Once again living up to their reputation!!
Once again I am forced to do another terrible review of Absa Credit Life as I can't seem to get any resolution. After weeks of fighting with them to actually pay my credit card on time, they finally starting doing so and all was going well, bar my monthly phonecalls to chase up the payment on the due date. Suddenly, last month I received 2 payments on the credit card which I was then told was an error. If I were to keep these funds on the card, it would result in the card not being paid the following month and I would have to find the funds to pay it (not possible as I am unemployed which is the reason for the claim being paid). I was informed that I could simply transfer the funds back to them and their account details were provided. I did so and provided proof of payment followed by an email which I never received a reply to. Low and behold, they did it again, 2 payments this month. I was then informed on Friday by Absa Credit Card that I will in fact be charged 17.5% for returning the funds I was sent in error - that would be R1,750 in charges per returned payment, of which I was never informed by Credit Life or anyone else.
Here is the kicker, today, I get an sms to say they are reducing my credit card limit by R10,000 today. I call them, only to be told it was actually done last week Friday and it was at the request of Credit Life. I am floored!! They double pay me in error, cause me to incur huge charges and then reduce my credit limit all without even communicating this with me. The R10,000 they've just taken was the overpayment that was made which means I have to now find money to make a payment a month early. Well, so much for having a policy that is supposed to help you. A policy I have been paying for.
I've sent an email last week and left 2 messages today but still no one has called me. Staff are still working from home which is completely ridiculous as we are on level 1 lockdown - very easy for them to be uncontactable when not in the office.
Absolutely appalling that this is how clients (who have paid for this policy) are treated in their hardest times!
