Absa Credit Card

I have a credit card with Absa,last year i went to the branch to close the account,the very same day i paid the account off reason bieng i am no longer working i won't be able to afford it anymore,the lady who assisted me,she called the Absa credit card department and she took the card and scissor and cut the card infront of me and said the account is closed,after a month i got a message saying i need to pay a certain amount for the credit card,and i immediately went to the branch to enquire why,i got assisted by the very same lady and the second time i spoke with credit card department and i was told on thier side i never requested the account to be closed and i asked because they keep the records can they go n listen to the record n it will tell them that i requested the account to be closed and they opened the case and said they will call me in two days time and i never got any call from them now they even handed over the account to the Attorneys,and come to my surprise the lady who was assisting me at the branch told me that its thier fault and it should not be my problem,now the issue is i have been handed over,please i don't know what to do anymore.
