absa creating a mess

I last heard from ABSA when I paid off my credit card in 2009, I never received any calls from ABSA until this morning nine years later I get a call from Norton Attorneys about my absa credit card which I paid off in 2009 that I have been handed over to the attorneys for R959 odd rands. if Absa ran this total by charging me when they were supposed to have closed the account in 2009 and never did that ,then I suggest they write off the balance which they rang up themselves!! if there was a balance probably from the charges in 2009 why didn't I get any notification from ABSA for 9years??
