Absa could lose a loyal lifetime client
My partner is currently in the process of purchasing a house through ABSA given he's banked with them his entire banking like. With him being based in the USA - on a cruise ship nogal - the process has been exceedingly testing. Nonetheless, we've passed through most of the loopholes to supply all documents. Even having had the seller on the verge of cancelling the sale even with the deposit paid due to the delayed process. We then decided on signing over power of attorney to me (given I'm in SA) in order for the final process of signing to proceed more smoothly. The letter was signed & dated 9th May 2015 but the USA version of writing dates is different to SA, theirs is month, day, year. Therefore the dating on the letter is 05/09/15. We just received ANOTHER email from the bond attourneys telling us ABSA wants the letter re-written and re-sent because of this dating issue. The part that's frustrating us the most is ABSA (BARCLAYS) is supposed to be a bank that deals with international clients. How can they not understand? Secondly, it is extremely difficult to get this letter signed and sent to SA in time due to a number of notary reasons. Is it worth losing a client and sale over
