ABSA contravening short term insurance act and consumer protection act not to mention breaching of privacy and making themselves guilty of harassment
I bought a vehicle and financed it through ABSA motor vehicle finance. I had to proof that the vehicle was insured which I did. One year later I started getting calls from AIP (ABSA Insurance Provider) wanting to do a comparative quote for my vehicle insurance, I refused to entertain the call as I am very happy with my current insurer. Soon afterwards the harassment continued now stating that I have to proof to them (again) that the vehicle is insured. I refused as I believe this is very un - competitive behaviour and a breach of my privacy as a client. Now I have found out that they have loaded my vehicle installment with an insurance premium. This is a contravention of the short term insurance act as you are not allowed to insure an asset twice, which is exactly what they are doing. Secondly this is in breach of the consumers protection act as they are forcing a product on to me that I don't require and not allowing me to take out insurance form a company of my preferred choice
Thank you for bringing this unfortunate matter to my attention and please accept my sincere apology . I will review and provide you with my specific contact details as well as your unique complaint reference number, and an expected timeframe for further feedback/resolution via email or making contact with you telephonically.
