Absa condones ********** transactions.
Thursday the 2nd of August proved to be the most unsettling and disturbing day that I have experienced in ages.
Money was **********ly transferred out of my bank account into "an unknown account". I reported the matter immediately to Absa's ***** line. I was told to collect forms from the bank. (The branch had no idea which forms and two hours and many phone calls later I was handed a form and told to take it to SAPS, which I did.
At SAPS I was informed of the forms that I still needed, for which I had to go back to the bank. A day or so later I sent everything to Absa *****, only to be sent another form, which I had to fill in.
Then Absa promised to investigate the matter and on the 16th September I received a reply from Absa stating that, amongst a whole lot of other blah, they were "offering" me a confidential settlement of 50% of the money ******.
I declined and asked for this matter to be investigated again. On the 2nd October I received "Our office reviewed the case and advises that the Bank remains with the offer presented by our forensics department dated 16 September 2018 as communicated to you previously", which is Absa for go away and shut up!
I lodged a complaint with the Ombudsman, stating all the info that I had, only to receive the reply that the matter was being referred back to the bank as they had to investigate. Duh...
On Googling Legal Talk SA I found that there are dozens and dozens of exactly the same cases against Absa. All I want is my money back! That's it.
