ABSA Charge customers for ATM's being unable to take deposits.
On the 29th July 2019 I went to San Ridge Square to deposit R4000 using the ATM. The ATM "deposit" option wasn't available. I asked the reception lady if I could use the tellers inside? She told me that I would be charged the normal cash deposit fee and advised me to rather go to another branch. She said they did phone the ATM custodians to empty the ATM - This was at 10:00am. At 12:00 I went back to the branch and still no luck. I asked the receptionist (another lady) if I could deposit inside, however that they shouldn't charge me as I don't see how I must pay for a service that's unavailable. She said I just need to speak to the Teller and tell them that the ATM is down. I went inside and saw the Service Managers door opened, I also asked her if I could deposit , however I didn't see why I had to pay the cash deposit fee if the outside ATM service is unavailable.
I went to the teller, explained myself again and was assured that they will not debit me for the cash deposit (over the counter) transaction.
I see a cash deposit fee was charged on the 1st August R173-00. This after I was assured that this would not be charged. I am really unhappy, this after being send away the first time, and informing the Receptionist, Service Manager and Teller the second time.
