WORST BANK EVER! Absa blocked my entire account to "verify" my address. I had to pay supliers for urgent stock, house ran out of electricity and I couldnt even draw money. I had no notification prior, only a mail after it was blocked! I spent 2 hours at the bank filling out what seems as senceless documents just to hear " your forms will be sent in for approval, if approved, your account will be unlocked". Do I need your so called "Approval" to access what belongs to me? I asked them why I had to sign their contract stating that I will notify them if my address changes when I opened my account if they will just randomly block my account anyways? But they could not answer me. I asked to close my account so I can withdraw my money and i was told I still have to go through the process before I can close my account aswell. Absa is a very ********* bank. If they feel they have the right to withhold my money and that I need their approval, they have abother thing coming. This is the last draw. I opened a cheq account for my business with them 2 years ago, the terms was that I would get a card masjine for my business. Needless to say, card masjine never arrived. Thank God for Yoco! After paying thousands in bank fees, and still no card masjine, I asked them to close it. They rep****, " we cannot close it because it has arrears". Like I care for their bank fees if they cant even stick to a simple agreement. They broke contract so I will not stand responsable. Anyway, had my say. I will experience another bank rather. Absa clearly only serve "some" people well, the rest of us they imagine as slaves who have no rights and need no morality. I have lost all faith and trust in this bank. Hope whoever reads this, will steer far clear from absa. I see similar complaints from 2019. They clearly have no intention of being "better". Only to control.
