Absa can't correct my Identity details

I have a current credit card with ABSA. I opened an ABSA debit account at Southdowns for Internet banking access. I tried to open my electronic statements and learned that my ID cannot open my statements. I went to ABSA Southdowns to sort it out. ABSA linked an unknown ID Nr to my account together with my actual ID nr. I asked them to remove the foreign ID Nr and Lerato said they can't and that I must use the unknown ID Nr to open my statements. I do not feel comfortable using unknown identification for my bank. I then contacted the ABSA ***** line and even Mtlatla could not correct my details. What now, do I rather close my account, is this my only safe option???
