ABSA cannot give me archived bank statements

I was hugely frustrated when I phoned your customer care line last week explaining that, for legal purposes, I needed to have some bank statements dated 2005 from my savings account with ABSA which was closed in 2011. I was told that this was not possible. Surely you have records in your archives? Can you please explain what I am supposed to tell the court - that ABSA is unable to provide me with back copies of my closed account?
