ABSA Business Banking and *****
My experience with ABSA Business Banking has been extremely disappointing, and I will never refer any person to ABSA ever, I have been banking with them for 3 years.
During the week of 13 April 2026, I received a traffic fine. On 22 April 2026, I received a payment link from PayCity for the fine amount of R250. Instead of debiting R250, an amount of R38,170.40 was deducted from my business account.
I immediately reported the transaction to ABSA (Call reference number ***4) as *****ulent and expected the matter to be investigated thoroughly, and for them to stop the transaction before it was finalised. They informed me to get a case number from the police station, which I did and I have send the case number together with my affidavit on the 23rd of April to ABSA, I only received feedback from them on the 28th of April that my ***** case was allocated to an investigator (FSZA-2***8 / ***4), this was 6 days after I logged the ***** case, I have phoned them several times since and they said that the investigator that was assigned to my case was on leave, on the 12th of May, I received a Whatsapp from them asking for the case number and affidavit again. I followed up with them several times again after confirming with them that I have send the affidavit and case number to them on the 23rd of April. On the 28th of May I received feedback from them, my ***** claim was denied, despite the fact that I immediately got in contact with ABSA and did everything they asked from me.
As a business owner, I trust my bank to protect my account and to properly investigate suspicious transactions, especially when there is a clear discrepancy between the expected payment amount and the amount actually debited. The lack of support and the decision to reject my ***** case left me feeling abandoned and financially exposed.
I have been left with a significant financial loss and no satisfactory resolution. This experience has severely damaged my confidence in ABSA's ability to protect its business banking clients and handle *****-related matters fairly.
I would strongly encourage other business owners to carefully monitor their accounts and understand exactly what protection they can expect should something go wrong.
