ABSA broke their own android app with an update and they won't fix it

ABSA recently updated their android banking app and broke it adding animations (to sell things like funeral cover). Now very many people can no longer log in (look at the app's page on Google Play Store). They keep on coming with ridiculous solutions (uninstall, power cycle re-install) or enable developer options and enable animations. None of these work. Why can they not roll back to the old version until the bugs are fixed? And while they are at it remove the adverts!!!
