Absa Bond declined

Dear Absa. I have been a client of yours for many many years. My husband is a client of fnb. Our bond is held with your institution. I am a pensioner collecting a goverment pension. My husband is still employed full time. We have been to your branch to apply for a further home loan on our existing bond which is relatively low. After approx 3 weeks ago. We recieved feedback today and was told its declined because of some bad debt that I had many many years ago. My husband who is the one responsible for the bond and the reyapment has no credit issues but you guys declined it. How is that you decline our application but FNB is willing to offer us the bond amount given that we switch. We are now considering switching over as our bank clearly doesn't value their clients
