ABSA bank unprofessional

On February 24, 2025, I processed a payment through a card machine to a company in Pretoria. This payment was intended for an event scheduled for Saturday, February 28, 2025, and was also meant to cover costs for other service providers. Unfortunately, the event was canceled, necessitating a refund. On Wednesday morning, the company responsible for the event reversed the funds back to my account. Since that time, I have found myself without any funds in my account, and Absa has consistently ignored my emails and numerous phone calls in my attempts to have my money released. I have been a customer of Absa for over twenty years, and the level of service I am experiencing now—characterized by what feels like theft and ************—is both disappointing and unacceptable. Absa has retained my hard-earned money without providing any justification or explanation, forcing me to navigate a frustrating ordeal to reclaim my funds. I have been passed around various departments within their back offices, yet I have received no assistance or response. While I have appreciated my business relationship with Absa in the past, I am now left feeling disillusioned. I have heard allegations regarding Absa's misuse of power, and it appears those rumors may hold some truth. The case numbers provided to me by Absa are C-***2 and C-***6, but I fail to see their relevance. This experience has highlighted a severe deficiency in customer service from a bank and it really affects us small businesses in a way that cannot be explained or tolerated.

Reviewer Update
ABSA has retained and denied the refund of my funds totalling R189,950.00, which is quite evident. I deeply regret placing my trust in this troubling institution, particularly regarding the management of their authorisations and debit disputes so called back offices. This situation has left me feeling both saddened and frustrated by this.
