ABSA Bank - Quick to take but not to service

Recently my husband has been out of the country and is only planning to return towards the end of the year due to work commitments. There has been an issue with his internet banking and I visited the branch in SA to see what type of assistance they could offer to resolve the issue. I do not have power of attorney on his account so I did not expect miracles just a clear directive of what they can and how they can assist. Either an alternative overseas partner, etc etc. I was met by the 'branch manager at springs mall and was told due to no power of attorney being assigned to me on his account there is nothing which can be done to assist me. But if I can bring 'some sort of official' document they will see what they can do for me. I also requested for a contact number which my husband could call to perhaps reset his details telephonically and I was told there is no such service. I then went on to get a power of attorney signed by my husband and commissioned by the South African Police along with a commissioned copy of his ID, my ID and our marriage certificate. All the original paperwork was taken to the same 'branch manager' and she advised she would give me feedback by the next day. Upon giving her all originals she still requested my name - perhaps these certified copies handed to her a few seconds prior were not clear with my details. By mid-day the following day I took it upon myself to call her as I had not heard from anyone yet. I was then casually advised that they could have updated me the day before (the same day I handed in all originals) that they were not going to assist us. I requested that all originals be left at the front desk for me to collect. When I arrived at the bank there was no envelop left for my attention, however I noticed the same branch manager busy dealing with another client so I waited my turn. Only for her to turn around and walk back to the back of house. I resorted to call her across the floor as I would not get her attention any other way. She then went to the back of house to collect the envelop containing my original paperwork. I was informed at this point that there is a number my husband can call to assist with his internet banking while overseas. This is now taking me back a week as it was requested for such details at my initial visit to their branch. Also when I requested what format of documentation would be accepted as the power of attorney that was presented was not acceptable according to them, I was told - a letter from a lawyer. Still not very clear and I suppose if this is presented the goal post would just be moved again. My husband called the number the very same day and he was provided with a general email address to send his request to which will verify his details and they can reset his internet banking. We have all but waited two weeks for a response on which we have arranged for him to come home to resolve this issue. It is shocking that this is the level of service you receive yet the month service fee and any transaction fees are always debited in time.
