ABSA BANK PUTS YOU ON HOLD JUST TO CUT YOIR CALL AFTER 30 MINUTES
Doing an online application is supposed to be easy and painless except when it comes to Absa Bank. When you call the personal loans number, you hold on for more than 30 minutes then get cut off EVERYTIME!
What is the problem here?

22 Feb 2022, 12:55In the email you say a response will be received by 1 March 2022.
Are you being serious???
One would think that someone would actually request your number so they could call you TODAY to assist but then again, banks don't care about their customers.

23 Feb 2022, 12:01I gave the very grumpy consultant the cellphone number to call being that of my husband who is also an Absa client and who is the one trying to do the application via one of the consultants). That was just after 9am and she has not done so. Very frustrating.
Note: His email address was sent privately and his details can be verified via that as my contact info was obtained from my email address used here.

02 Mar 2022, 12:22PLEASE NOTE: He has tried thrice today, 2 March 2022 to speak to a consultant, only to hold for 30 minutes AGAIN and be cut off AGAIN!
Lebo, there seems to be a misunderstanding here.
Lebo, there seems to be a misunderstanding here.
1. Yes, you called him yesterday and told him you will send ME some type of report in writing;
2. That there was some issue about an amount that was handed over or whatever - this is nonsense as if this is now suddenly the case, it would be something that prescribed already and must be removed from your system;
3. If there is the issue mentioned above, how did he qualify for vehicle finance with Absa among other things?
4. Why is a personal loans manager not contacting him to discuss the issues and trying to assist him in resolving it, instead I am acting as the go-between as he tries phoning, gets cut off while holding on for 30 minutes, all this trying to get on with his work? I end up emailing and doing whatever to assist him as I have more flexibility time wise to do so.
Again I ask, how difficult is it for a personal loans manager to phone him to get this sorted instead of us going back and forth and getting nowhere?
If he is not properly assisted by the end of today, the ombudsman will be approached to take the matter further

04 Mar 2022, 11:36This matter is now being drawn out unnecessarily by Absa! How in heavens name do you sell debt that prescribed in 2008 to a third party in 2015? And now in 2022 want to make the problem the customer's? All you need to do is send the customer the prescribed letter and update your system accordingly - how difficult can that be?
Absa, get your house in order and sort this out immediately within the next hour. If not resolved immediately then the ombudsman will have to be brought in as you clearly do not understand how prescribed debt and the subsequent selling of it works - it is ******* and ********!

10 Mar 2022, 13:33So we are 3 weeks later and STILL get the runaround from Absa.
Absa messed up badly as the debt prescribed in 2008. In 2015 the prescribed debt was sold to a third party. Now after all these years, Absa and the debt collectors are suddenly trying to resurrect this matter again???
Absa, YOU have to issue the prescription letter or what is it that your employees do not understand?? Now my husband is being sent from pillar to post because of your employees not understanding the law of prescription!
I am beyond amazed that the people we've been dealing with to date are actually gainfully employed yet have no clue what they are doing nor do they wish to rectify this wrong by sorting it out immediately.
That's Absa's client service for you....pathetic!
