ABSA bank preferring temporal license as identification over passport document

Today I walked into ABSA branch in Secunda mall to replace my bank card that got lost on Saturday. To my surprise the only form of identification that can be used is national ID or drivers license. They were even willing to take a temporal drivers license and were not willing to use my passport which is only form of ID I have at the moment. My biggest concern is that the passport is issued my home affairs but the temporal license is not but the temporal license is an acceptable form of identification.
