ABSA BANK OWES MONEY TO ESTATE BUT FAILS TO REPLY TO LETTERS AND TO EFFECT PAYMENT

In a deceased estate which I am winding up, my firm has written 4 (FOUR) letters to ABSA BANK requesting them to advise what amount is due to the Estate by ABSA and what documents they require in order to pay the amount which they owe to the Estate. The amount due to the Estate is believed to be approximately R120 000.00. Despite the repeated letters to them, ABSA has completely ignored the Executor's requests and have failed to attend to the matter at all. Their failure is delaying the winding up of the Estate and is prejudicing creditors and the heirs.

!!! That was a week ago!!! I see from other complaints that ABSA sends the above standard reply to all complainants! As far as I know they have done NOTHING to assist me. Not even a phone call to ascertain the deceased's account numbers! Just in case it assists ABSA to do something about the matter, the account numbers are ********** 762 and ********** 034. ABSA used to have the motto "THE BIGGEST HELPING HAND IN THE LAND" - this seems to have dwindled to just the middle finger :-(

After no less that 65 (SIXTY FIVE) emails coming and going, ABSA BANK has AT LAST paid the amount/s they owe to the Estate. In the interim and since my complaint of 17 October, ABSA BANK gave me the "run-around" and refused to accept certified copies of documents which ALL the other financial institutions in which the deceased had investments, accepted gladly and without question. The person with whom I dealt now appears to have blocked my emails. I have no doubt that ABSA was not short of the approximate R200 000.00 owing to the estate and it was merely the total inefficiency of their staff.
