ABSA BANK - HOMELOAN SHORT TERM INSURANCE

December 2016, due to the storm experienced, there was damage to the roof of my property. I lodged a claim with ABSA Insurance who duly appointed a contractor, Mandeley Trading. I received a SMS notifying me that somebody will be coming out only next year to attend. I called the contractor ad told them that due to the nature of the damage, I could not wait until next year and if they could not come out, then Iwill get ABSA to appoint a new contractor. They apologised and sent their guy out. He replaced a few tiles and said that should help temporarily until they cme back to work next year and will fix up the damage. I called ABSA toenquire about progress of claim today to find out that cliam was repudiated, reason being that had not maintained my roof. HOW DO I MAINTAIN A ROOF TO PREVENT IT FROM BEING DAMAGED BY HEAVY GUSTS OF WINDS AND DOWN POUR OF RAIN AND PREVENT THE FASCIA BOARD FROM TEARING OFF THE ROOF?? We pay our insurance premium and instalment each month, when we have a claim, it is declined. Seems like the policy is designed to take our money, not provide the service and enrich the bank. What grates me is that the bank is the title holder of te property, are they not interested in protecting their asset, should in fall into a state of disrepair, let them repo the property and sit with a dilapidated property? Where is the mentality? I have a valid claim?
