ABSA bank doesn't care about their clients
Dear ABSA Team,
I have been a loyal and well-paying ABSA client for over 25 years. However, over the past two years, I have felt increasingly let down by the service and treatment I’ve received.
I am regularly contacted by your team offering various financial products. Yet, each time I express interest and go through the application process, I am declined, always due to "affordability." Most recently, I received a call from ABSA regarding a consolidation loan after it was noticed that I had accepted a loan from another financial institution. The offer was appealing, as it would have lowered my monthly instalments significantly, and naturally, I would prefer to manage my credit through my long-standing bank.
However, after going through the entire process again, I was once more declined for the same reason: affordability. What I find deeply frustrating is that I have never defaulted on any instalment, including the current loan in question. In fact, ABSA’s offer would have reduced my monthly financial obligations by nearly R2,000. How, then, does this not meet affordability criteria?
It gives the impression that ABSA's offerings are not truly designed with the customer’s best interests in mind. The repeated cycle of being contacted, applying, and then being declined feels like a waste of time and quite frankly, an erosion of trust.
After 25 years, I now feel that the relationship with ABSA has become stale and one-sided.
