Absa Bank ***** department

Absa ***** department is shocking. Credit card ***** occurred on my account I immediately notified them and followed the processes after months they notified me that it was rejected due to my password being disclosed I asked for proof of this and they have given me an automated message and ref no, I have now involved a legal representative and the ombudsman this however is a long process and I am liable to pay the installment on this *****ulent account, I've been a client of Absa for 40 years with an excellent credit record, I am now a pensioner and cannot afford to pay this installment and they have frozen my account so I can not transact on it either even though I am paying it every month!!! I have a detailed record of reference numbers case numbers and dates and times calls and emails were sent and made. I am deeply disappointed in the customer service and lack of interest shown from the bank to resolve this matter especially after the years I've been a loyal client.

Thank you I will however be responding to my original post to inform other clients how long absa's ombudsman department takes to respond. I do believe the ***** was committed internally within the bank hence the lack of correspondence as well as proof of the *****ulent transaction , up until today absa can not tell me where the money has gone and my statements have been erased off my banking app. I will be taking this further on every social media platform if this department doesn't contact me soon as this is absolutely shocking I'm a 70 year old lady with 40years loyal relationship with the bank, and I'm being treated horribly!!!!!

Hello Vanessa

Just thought I would update on this forum that after receiving a call from Mbali who deals with the ombudsman matters within the bank she advised me to please stop posting on Hello Peter and wait out the 21 working days for Absa to respond, which was Frday the 2nd of May 2025, I received correspondence today from the ombudsman stating that Absa feels the matter is premature and they need another 15days to look into this........ it's premature after they declined it on the basis of a forensic report that they have not provided after numerous requests. I'm quite confident that the 15 day timeline will be shifted once again, as a consumer I am now prejudice for months on end, there is no clear process whether I should involve my own legal team and compal the bank to comply with cost. I have been liable for the installment and interest on this *****ulent transaction for months, but I'm the one that needs to be patient for another 15days and it's premature after 7 months with no answers!!!!!!!!!

Thanks Vanessa, the onus is upon the bank, I've really tried every possible resource to prove my innocence, it's just sad that this happens to me at the age of 70, one would think retirement would be a time to not have to fight and be stressed over something that the bank could have sorted out the correct way months ago, posting on this forum is not for sensation, it's to try and get Absa Bank to resolve this matter as I have had not joy with any other communication channels i have followed😞
