ABSA - bad customer service

I opened a new cheque account on Monday the lady (T Dlamini) told me that the cheque card will be delivered in 3-4 working days, she did not offer me an interim card... today (Thursday) I decided to call the 0860 number to check when I could expect my card to be delivered to the Rosebank branch, after holding for a while - Julie (very friendly agent) told me that the card was never created, but she cant create it from her end - I need to go back into the branch for her to re-request the card and to give me an interim/ATM card (as tomorrow is monthend). This reminds me of alot of complaints I have read on hellopeter about ABSA. Anyway, I returned to the branch this afternoon, but the two people that were there were with the same customer for the 15 minutes I waited, I had to leave as time is money.

My question is... where is the customer service? Maybe I am just used to Private Client treatment at FNB, but this service is shocking on every level.

What now ABSA? If I didnt call and speak to Julie I would've been waiting forever for an SMS to tell me my cheque card is at the branch? Now money will go into the account but I have no access to it, no internet banking (because you need a card), no USSD banking (because you need a card), no Mobile App banking (because you need a card), no banking at all...

What is you solution?
