ABSA ATM Failed to Credit Cash Deposit – No Feedback or Resolution

On 26/12/2026 at 09:48:33, I made a cash deposit at an ABSA ATM in Centurion (ATM number 08441, SEQ 008791). The ATM took my cash but failed to credit my account.

The following day, I went to the branch to report the issue and was given complaint reference number C-***5. Since then, the experience has been extremely frustrating and disappointing.

To date, nobody from ABSA has contacted me with feedback or updates. I am the one who has had to repeatedly call and follow up. This is unacceptable, especially considering the issue was caused by ABSA’s own ATM.

What makes this worse is the contradictory information I’ve received:

The call center advised the matter would be resolved quickly

The branch advised 10–45 working days

The Complaints Resolution Department advised 5–7 working days

There is clearly no consistency or accountability.

I am also aware that the ATM was serviced and cash collected by SBV on 27/12/2025. Given this, I do not understand why ABSA is unable to confirm a cash surplus and provide feedback within a reasonable time. How long does it realistically take to verify surplus cash once an ATM has been balanced?

While I understand there was one public holiday, this does not justify the ongoing silence. The money deposited is my personal funds, and this delay has directly affected me financially and caused unnecessary stress and time wasted on follow-ups.

As a client, I expect far better service and communication. At this stage, I am formally requesting immediate feedback and resolution. If I do not receive feedback today, I will proceed with escalating the matter to the Ombudsman for Banking Services.

ABSA’s handling of this matter reflects poorly on customer service and accountability, and I hope this public complaint finally results in action.
