Absa assist ********* 5stdiet.com
On the 3rd of Feb, I got a pop-up while I was on the internet from a company claiming to be my new internet service provider, Rain. It said that because I was new a client, I won a price and can now get a new Samsung A3 phone. I was skeptical and selected my Absa creditcard because it had very little credit available on it and I thought if it was a **** for more money, it won’t go through because of the creditlimit on the card. I put in my card details and approved the sale for R30. It then came up with a amount of R900 that I must pay to belong to a club. I then cancelled the transaction and then kept an eye on my cell phone for if any request to confirm the transaction would come up. No requests came through to approve the transaction. I was happy that the transaction was cancelled. A couple of days later, Absa phone me and asked me if foreign transactions for the amount of R1008.70 and R33.35 were valid and made by me. They wanted to know if the transactions and if the payments must be allowed to go through. I said that I approved the payment of R30 to Rain, but definately not to any foreign companies. I asked both amounts must not be paid, because I only consented to pay R30 to Rain and that the company mispresented itself. I was then told by the agent to cancel the card because this ********** company had my card details. I was then transferred to a new agent and app**** for a new card. I was impressed by Absa that they picked up and stopped these ********** transaction. When I looked at my statement, I was shocked to see 2 transactions to a foreign company 5stdiet.com, the one for R33.35 and the other one for R1008.70. I supposed that the R30 was for the supposed cellphone that I bought and a charge for R1008.70 that I didn't appove. I contacted Absa and was told to write a email to their dispute department. The result of it is that they said that it was my fault and rude agents that that told me that I was a ****. I was first told that they will listen to the recording of the call Absa made to me, when they asked to hear if the trancactions were valid. Later I was told that they are not allowed to listen to the recording and I was a **** and that Absa never make such calls. I was basically told that they follow prosedure, which basically mean all claims disputes are invalid. I am extremely disappointed in Absa, because why phone me and ask if the transactions were valid if they just later paid the money over to the **********. Both transactions were ***** even if I approved the transaction of R30, because the company was not the local company Rain as I thought. Secondly, why did Absa allow a transaction to go though that went way over my creditlimit. I am convinced that Absa is helping this **********. I opened my Absa statement today to see what the amount was that I had to pay and was very surprised that both transactions went through and appeared on the statement. Firstly, because the amount of R1008.70 took me far over my limit and secondly because I was phoned by Absa and asked if the transactions must be allowed, on which I said that it must be cancelled. I had no dealings with 5stdiet.com,emails or whatever.
