Absa asset financing employees may be involved in theft of vehicle registrations at licensing dept

We purchased a vehicle through Absa vehicle finance. The vehicle was paid off in Nov last year. In January this year, the vehicle was written off in an accident. When we requested the original registration papers from ABSA we received them with a copy of the id book of the employee who is the proxy at the motor vehicle department.

We then were informed at the MV dept that the vehicle had been transferred out of our name into someone else's name shortly after it was paid up. It has become a huge issue to get this sorted with the police and the investigating officer is demanding that the proxy present himself and complete an affadavit in person.

This person is refusing. Apparently "he deals with many of these cases on a daily basis and has never had to do an affadavit". Meanwhile, insurance will not pay us out.

We have spoken to our relationship manager who is having no success in helping us with this matter.

I am desperate. Why won't this gentleman help us?
