I have for over a month now been trying to resolve an issue with Absa vehicle finance. The account was handed to a collection agent in January. The agent called me and i subsequently paid the outstanding amount on the 30th of January 2019. I have the proof of transfer that the collection company transferred those funds to Absa on the 5th of February 2019. Absa have not allocated these funds to my account. I have been trying to resolve this since the beginning of March when it came to my attention that according to Absa i was in arrears. I have not received a statement on my vehicle since August of 2018. When i call Absa vehicle finance they transfer me to the legal department who then tell me it is a defended matter and that i need to speak to Hammond Pole Majola their attorney's the very same attorney's I paid back in January I call hammond Ple and they refuse to speak to me and will only communicate with my attorney. I have had my attorney trying to resolve this for the last 2 weeks at a personal cost to me of over R6000. he has obtained and email from hammond Pole stating that the account is not in arrears with them and that Absa have been advised of this. This email was received two weeks ago. Absa still refuse to tak to me as they say it is a legal matter and I must talk to Hammond Pole. I am not sure what to do now as no-one seems to know what teh other is doing . It is an absolute joke all the while Absa continue to charge me late payment interest and affect my credit record all due to their incompetence.
I have tried every avenue including the complaints department and Facebook but it would seem that no-one at Absa is either willing or capable of helping a client. I will never use Absa for any of banking needs again. The level of incompetence is astounding and i will be registering my complaint with the banking ombudsman for what it is worth.
