Absa and mysterious debits and bank charges
There's some **** I'm going through on my Absa account, I think, and I have not received adequate help about this from my branch. I've been having strange debits from my account (min R99 , max R299) that I never signed up for , neither have I ever made any verbal agreement with any company to debit on my account nor was I ever informed by any company of such. I am a student with a student check account. I consulted the bank to enquire about this , they gave me an explanation that made no sense, that "something is debiting from my account and they cannot stop it, they can only reverse the money it's taking ". What is most devastating is that with every reversal the bank charges me more than the actual debited amount and charges me for unpaid debit orders on my account every end of the month if I stop the reversal . Now is Absa not benefiting from this ? Is this not a ****?

My case was reffered to the Branch manager in Umtata, who called and promised he would shut down the account after i explained to them what was going on. That account is still active. They never shut it down. I still get text messages of those debit orders even this year from that account yet they said they would close it.
