On the 8 August 2024, my mum received a message on her phone stating that she had insufficient funds in her account which is actually a mistake. On the 14 August 2024, she visited the Bank and was told that she authorized payments via her Online Banking to Transfer funds to a Discovery Bank Account. My mum is 74 and has no clue on how to do Payfast or EFT. She always asks me being her daughter for help. I am writing this review as i know for a fact that no such transaction happened. If my mum wanted to buy something from Takealot for example, i would do it from my account and not utilize hers. Absa Bank ***** Department was contacted and an Affidavit was requested along with a Case of ***** opened at Sydenham Police Station which was transferred to Berea SAPS, case #:125/08/2024. Today being the 2 September 2024, my mum received a call from Tatum from the ***** Dept who told my mum that she authorized the Transfer. My mum does not have the ABSA Mobile App nor does she has Payfast. My mum has been banking with ABSA for 20 years- is this the service she gets from all those years. Every bank is a business, why is this business not doing their jobs correctly. A sum of R19k+ was transferred out my mums account into a Discovery Account via Pay fast. For that to happen, there must have been a Beneficiary saved. SO if there is no beneficiary saved- how did this amount just go for a walk out my 74 year old mums account without her authorization, plus there would have been a OTP request for such an amount. Whomever this character is that stole money from her- i hope he has a conscious!! ABSA bank refuses to return this money, even when the ***** Dpt. initially said that it would. All this headache has caused my mums pressure to rise and at that how is she suppose to live her life for the month as she has expenses. ABSA bank is going to lose her as a client of 20 years.
