ABSA ALLOWS MERCHANTS TO ***** FROM CUSTOMERS
I am referring to case reference number C-***2 in which I reported a large well known UK merchant debiting my account for a service they were not giving me. This carried on for months. After reporting it to my bank (Absa) they could not stop this either..... That is quite strange as they are essentially the owners of the account (my account) which is being debited.... So I would think if they really wanted to they could stop anyone debiting any of their accounts???? Their great answer was below. This is the email from them to me:
A write-off was processed to your account on 21 January 2023 and will appear on your next statement as a credit. We hereby suggest that you stop your credit card to prevent further debits to your account. Kindly contact our Stop Card Department at ***.
So make it my mission to stop my card and get a new one and reset all the other debit orders I had from other merchants and give them my new card details like Netflix etc.
BUT GUESS WHAT ABSA YOU LEGENDS???? MIXCLOUD HAS DEBITED ME ON MY NEW CARD, HOW IS THIS ACTUALLY POSSIBLE??? THIS IS ******* AND ABSA IS ALLOWING IT TO HAPPEN...... TOTALLY UNACCEPTABLE I NOW WANT TO TAKE THIS FURTHER, THIS MERCHANT NEEDS TO BE HELD ACCOUNTABLE. IF ABSA HAS ANY HEART FOR ITS CUSTOMERS THEY WILL TAKE THIS UP FORMALLY WITH THIS MERCHANT.
Do something about this, have a heart and do the right thing for you loyal customer....
I have raised this with the banking ombudsman in SA and the UK as this is a breach of my card data. This merchant should never have been able to debit my new card why was my card data shared with them?
