ABSA - Algamated Blunders of SA

ABSA Funeral Cover - Biggest mistake ever........ even the 1 star is undeserved. Hellopeter should have an option for a more negative ratings as well. i humbly submit a suggestion for the real meaning of ABSA. Almagamated Blunders of South Africa. They should have stuck to banking. Got a Funeral Cover.... Spouse passed away of unnatural causes in a government hospital on the 25th of November 2020, that is a whole different issue.

Called ABSA on 5th of Dec 2020 and submitted ALL requested documentation. between myself and their call centre, 2 digits on policy number were swapped in error of verbal communication as consultants were working from home and the TV is blaring in the background on the other side. I was informed on this incorrect policy number that my account was "randomly" selected for audit and this process will take 10-14 working days. i was expecting a payout within a few days. i was informed 2 weeks later that policy number was incorrect and the issue was rectified by me and ABSA. I was told a week later that my correct policy number was again, "randomly" selected for audit and this will take "another" 10-14 working days. ABSA's coincidence is mind boggling....but i let it pass....i am very blessed.

Auditors then asked for another "missing" document which was the post mortem report which i was requested to provide in order for the claim to be processed. ABSA, did not know that the post mortem report, as per the "Inquest Act of SA" is a private document that is managed by the SA Police Service and only becomes a public document after the inquest, which in SA can take anything from 4 months to 2 years. i explained to ABSA auditors of the status quo and was really shocked that they did not know this. I remined them that this claim is for a FUNERAL POLICY and NOT A LIFE POLICY. ABSA sent an "investigator", to my premises in Durban, Young dude dressed in a jumpsuit. i provided this investigator as per his request with the names and contact number of my 2 adult children, 1 lives with me and he wanted the SAPS investigation officer and any of my spouses relatives. My spouse had 4 sisters and i provided them with their names and contact numbers as well.

So the whole process started going south when i was getting hints around his questioning... ABSA was going down the route of invesigating my involvement in my spouses death. total idiot. Paperwork from the SAPS proved that my spouse walked into a hospital and was fine until she fell after a violent reaction to medication and bumped her head on the floor. My spouse died of a brain hemmorage due to multiple skull fracture which was found after a post morterm was requested by me. The jumpsuit dude also called my spouses sisters and started going down the same route of asking questions about me. He then called the SAPS investigating office and suggested the same. The SAPS officer thought that jumpsuit dude was an idiot.

Now the 10-14 days for audit have passed . I called ABSA and the consultant promised that she will call me back.....nothing.. I called agaib 3 days ago and was told that ABSA will speak to the auditors and get back to me......nothing I called today and was told that the auditors are not available and that ABSA will call me befor cob today....what am i expecting......nothing.

with all due respect, ABSA should have stayed with banking, they did that decently... as for the Funeral Plan gig..... ABSA has no idea what they are doing... they do not have the capability to manage this business.... their knowledge of the local bylaws that govern it also sucks.... I kid you not, i suspect that the Auditors is related to some in ABSA which is how they got to get their contract..... they also lack knowledge of local death industry and how it works.... i am now left with an unpaid funeral bill.... going on a month and a half..... NEVER TAKE AN ABSA FUNERAL POLICY, based on your experiece with them as bankers. ABSA =ALGAMATED BLUNDERS OF SOUTH AFRICA.

Got a call from ABSA today, but the lady did not know the name of who she wanted to speak to. I ask again and she kept silent for about 30 seconds and then cut the call. She called again and said only hello.... But its ABSA, part of their strategy to say, they tried to call but no reply. ABSA is falling apart at the seams.
But Ms Daphne Le Grange, no sign of her...... ABSA policy again, to give standard cut, copy and paste response and then forget about the complaint... SHAME ON YOU. YOU TAKING MY INSTALMENT EVERY MONTH.

She gave me the assurance that i will receive feedback today. While i do not doubt this ladys intergrity, i am not expecting much, after all we dealing with ABSA.

Finally.... ADSA - Amalgamated Blunders of SA has finally responded verbally....
I received a call from a male who claimed her was calling on behalf of ABSA Head Office.
He stated that ABSA will not be paying out on this funeral policy as the post mortem report needs to be submitted.
When ask where in the policy that was sold to me, was it stated that it is necessary to submit a report of this nature, he then said ABSA sees this as a natural death.
I then got a call from a lady called Margaret also from ABSA Head Office, stating the same but she will call me again tomorrow after i stated that ABSA's investigator is disagreeing with the State Pathologist who declared the death of my wife as unnatural and the SAPS who aslo stated this after their investigation. ABSA claims that a person who dies of a brain hemmorage due to multiple skull fractures as a natural death.... BEWARE OF ABSA - YOU DONT WANT THIS STRESS AT THE TIME OF A DEATH IN YOUR FAMILY.

ABSA's promise to call after dispute meeting at 11am today is looking like another NO SHOW on their part..... But option i have is to take a loan from another source and settle the bill and sue ABSA for total loan and costs.
