ABSA - actually your story doesn’t matter.

I honestly believe that ABSA is doing their best to alienate clients. I recently changed my name at Dept. Of Home Affairs and was wanting to do the same at the bank. I had my new ID card, my old ID and proof of address to prove who I am and where I live. They refused to help me because my proof of address had my old name on it. Unless I am really on the dim side how on Earth does that logic work?! Apart from that, in August 2025 I asked for a bridging loan for a month with a guaranteed amount of money coming in to cover the loan, in other words there was ZERO risk on ABSA’s part. My paperwork was accurate and up to date. I had been up for debt review but it had all been cleared 5 years ago. They didn’t even have the decency to let me know I had been rejected for the loan. Really sad, they are so eager to take your money but when it comes to really helping it’s a wash out.
