Absa, a very malicious and shrewd bank

My wife and I took a home loan last year. I think the home loan was approved on both of our incomes as the house is on both our names.

My wife is not working in the job she was when it was approved. Last year we fell into financial difficulties. I had to do most of the living expenses and still now as well.

I approached Absa for relief with regards to the home loan, they told me since I am already on a 30 year term they cannot give me a longer term.

They approved me on a 50% reduction payment for 6 months, the consultant told me that I am allowed to apply for this option 2 times in a 5 year period. He further mentioned if I am still not in a good financial situation after 6 months I can apply for a further 6 months.

I honoured all my reduced payments for 6 months and I am still in the same situation. I contacted Absa last year to apply for a further 6 months as my wife is still not in a stable job. They said I can apply for 6 months period once per year.

We have decided to sell the house, Absa help you sell made me an offer but we decided to sell privately. While trying to sell the house coz of financial reasons, I app**** for a further 6 months reduced installment since it is 2020 and still have 1 more relief period left within the 5 year period.

I am shocked and disgusted that they have rejected me even after I sent them the documentation required.

I have honoured all my payments from the time the first 6 months reduced period started including the 2 high installments for the past 2 months. Why will they reject me?

I have 2 relief periods within 5 years and app**** for 1 only so far.

The only reason I see is that because I did not sign the Absa help you sell documentation they were malicious and declined me. We are first time home owners and we are being treated like this. Totally dissatisfied and disappointed.
