ABSA 30% off with AVIS - Fleecing Customer

ABSA and Avis currently running a 30% off car hire for December if booked in September. In the last week I booked an avis car in Durban at R230/day (Group A). I wanted to make use of the December special and reviewed the AVIS price via the ABSA portal. For 5 Day car hire AVIS want R1800 which is R360/day. I searched other car hire companies and the same hire is between R1000 – R1200. AVIS and ABSA have increased the car hire by 30% then offer the discount, not on full rental cost as the discount does not apply to VAT and levies. In effect discount will be around 25%, which on the R1800 is still more expensive that other hire companies. ABSA and AVIS are fleecing customers under the guise of a 30% discount and forcibly wanting early payment in September. ABSA and AVIS this is so disingenuous – I guess that is Africanacity!
