Absa

I am a student and already my account has been handed over to lawyers because of an outstanding amount of which I know nothing of. I started banking with Absa 3years ago and it was a student account then a cheque account was added under my name , when it was opened I wasn't made aware of the disadvantages that come with the account . When I started receiving debit orders I went to the nearest branch which was Braamfontien and I was told that it was from various accounts which was supposedly a **** . I requested that the account be closed because I couldn't afford the money that was demanded and they said they shall close it . Now I've been getting calls from lawyers which are threatening to ruin my credit record for money that I do not know of . When I explained to them the whole story about the account they couldn't care less and still demanded that I make arrangements to pay the R400 regardless of whether I am a student or not .
