A simple request for a debit order change has become a nightmare
I have 2 vehicle accounts with absa and requested a debit order date change as I had changed employer I was advised over the phone to send an email with my new contract or payslip to support the request which I did C***5 I received letters for both accounts dated the 14th April 2023 confirming the change. I was surprised when I still got debited for the one account on the 20th I sent another email advising I needed both debits changed and got no response. I just got off the phone with a collections consultant because now my account is in the red. I have no problem with the debit going off today or tomorrow the funds have been available since the 21st but madam on the phone now wants my payslip to make the changes which makes no sense to me for 2 reasons 1)I have already sent an email with confirmation of employment which the bank accepted because my one debit order is changed (even though I have 2 letters confirming both accounts have been changed) now the bank insists on a payslip because the debit order date needs to match my pay day Please tell me what sense that would make if I get paid at standard bank and it would take 2 days for the funds to reflect at absa (my whole reasoning for moving it to the 25th) 2) Why was one debit changed and the other not changed with a confirmation of employment and not a payslip
Absa needs to be very clear about what needs to done because I did what I was asked to do by one consultant and I am now in a situation. I have had finance with the bank since 2019 and not once have I missed a payment and took all the necessary measures to ensure it does not happen but they failed me and now this will have a negative impact on my credit record and its not my fault in anyway. I had no intention of getting these vehicles refinanced by my new employer but after this experience I look forward to it
