7 Months to Conclude a Claim- WOW!

In Dec 2016 i lodged a claim for storm damage and a leak in my ceiling. My details were "mixed" with another clients and my claim was never tended to. In Jan 2017 i lodged the same claim, this time with the added comment that the damage had worsened.

An assessor was assigned, but the claim was rejected due to "poor workmanship and rising damp" - how i managed to get rising damp in my ceiling still bewilders me! How Absa signed off on my bond if the home was not maintained also baffles me! The matter was escalated - i requested the assessors report as well as the rejection letter - it took Absa 3 months to contact me and provide some sort of feedback! Not the report or letter though!

An independent assessor was sent out in April. This time the ceiling claim was approved but i heard nothing regarding the other damage!

Fast forward to July 2017 - No feedback, no updates, 23 unanswered emails, Leak Specialists assigned by Absa have confirmed that i do in fact have a leaking outlet pipe- caused by the storms experienced over Dec and Jan when i initially lodged my claim, no contact my the claims manager or execitive.

I've now opened a case with the OMBUD, however i still require the rejection letter ( a requested that has gone unanswered since March 2017) to be sent to me.

I have written confirmation from a contractor that damp does not exceed 1.5m. All my damage is from my roof down and along the position of the outlet pipe.

We've never claimed from our building insurance before this and have been paying our annual fees with NO issue.

ABSA RESPOND TO ME and PAY MY CLAIM OUT. Stop trying to find a way out of your commitment as an insurer. I have done my part by keeping my home maintained and keeping my insurance running without issues - Now do yours!
