Unsafe kitchen cupboards

Even 1 star is too much for this business. They were referred to do a new kitchen installation for completion in August 2021. I found their initial composure rather rude. The project contractor resolved this. The project was several weeks late; and included many negligent mistakes. E.g handle grips not sprayed, shelves in cupboards never installed, cupboard doors not in alignment, and the list goes on. "Apparently" the setting was very difficult to work due to 'uneven' concrete counters. Note the contractor who did the concrete work as on site during the installation with Above Board Joinery. Also, no other work or easier application was ever recommended, or even discussed. The final result was that I was not happy, but settled the bill. But silly me, I then ask them to do my bedroom cupboards. You know, give the small business another chance. Disaster! Door handles skew, hinges look terrible, not make pretty with edging and the small dots to conceal the holes that was drilled incorrectly. Yet again, I said thank you, and paid them in full.

And then this happened. 3 am on Womans Day (360 days after I moved in), it sounded like a bomb has exploded in my little home. A hanging corner unit came crashing down from the wall, and taking everything in it's way with. Crockery, glassware, a bit of groceries, and those all time sentimental salad bowls and platter trays received as wedding gifts, smashed. My gorgeous cemcrete floor is now permanently stained because of the mix of coffee, vinegar, milk and oil that broke. And my gorgeous Maxell Williams crockery all gone.

The cherry on the top of the cake, is that my building insurance has declined the claim since it is clearly poor workmanship. The corner shelf hanging cupboard was secured directly to the backboard with only 2 brackets, each with 1 bolt and 2 *****s. I must say, I never though that when you move into a new house that that level of detail needs to be checked. Neither is my home contents insurance paying.

I will mostly definitely not use Above Board Joinery to come do the renovations, but I still await at the bare minimum, an apology and acknowledgement of debt to assist me with the financial disaster I now have to deal with.
