Aaron Loghomes - a very capable ****mer - be very careful!

I was contacted Aaron Loghomes in October 2024 after I'd received a very good referral. I contacted him and arranged for him to travel down to the KZN South Coast as he resides near Pretoria, I paid for the travel and accommodation for Aaron and his colleague. We had a meeting on site (together with my son) where we discussed my requirements and after some negotiations, we all agreed on a total cost of R550 000 for a "turnkey" completion of the entire project including all materials, labour, plumbing, electricals, basic built-in cupboards etc. as per our agreed specifications. He required a 70% deposit, which seems to be an industry norm, as he wanted to buy all the materials in Gauteng - I reluctantly agreed to this as the necessary supp**** could easily have been procured locally thus reducing transport costs. As these costs were coming off the total project costs, it was not really a deal breaker. Aaron and his team arrived on site towards the end of January with an overloaded truck full of building material (for which he was fined). A VERY capable sub-contractor did all the work to complete the shell and roof in 2 weeks, but Aaron returned to Gauteng two days after his arrival to "finalise" the remaining work. Upon his return, Aaron required the balance of the contract value (around R110 000 including the procurement of incidentals required during building of the shell) in order to pay the workers and procure all the other materials to complete the project, which I again reluctantly paid. A few days later, I received a call from Aaron to inform me that there was no way he was able to complete the cabin within the R550 000 budget and that I needed to pay him another R250 000 to complete the project. So ultimately, he stole the balance of the budget as I never saw him again and I had to procure everything from the panels, the windows, plumbing, electricals etc. and it cost me R550 000 to erect a shell without windows, plumbing, electricals, built-in cupboards or bathroom fittings. So please beware! This man is ****mer - I will never see any of the funds I gave him when he left the site at the end of January.
