Exorbitant quotation for Electrical Work
I had an electrical fault at my home that caused a circuit breaker to trip. I found [URL Removed] A contractor arrived on 10 March. He provided me with a written quotation for replacement of a cable for R14,814.30. The quotation did not disclose how this figure was arrived at. He also stated that I had to pay a deposit of 50% so that he could buy material. I informed him that I would have to think about it. I filed a claim with my insurance company. The assessor/electrician arrived the following morning, confirmed that the cable needed to be replaced and provided me with a quotation for just under R3000. Earlier in the morning we also discovered that both geysers in the house had stopped working. I mentioned this to the assessor who informed me that both geysers had simply been disconnected for no apparent reason. Only the AAA contractor had opportunity to do this. In the end the assessor/electrician replaced the damaged cable and reconnected everything within about 2 hours. I am not even sure under which name to file this service report, as the name AAA Plumbing and Electrical does not appear on the website mentioned above.
