<p>I had an accident in the beginning of Feb and they arrived on the scene. My impressions below: </p> <p> </p> <p>First things first:</p> <p>Always phone your insurance on your phone from a number you dialed. Never their phone.</p> <p>Second:</p> <p>Make sure your insurance authorises A1 assist, fortunately my insurance has A1 as an approved towing company. Beware if you don't or they are not approved.</p> <p>Thirdly:</p> <p>Read the back of their invoice. As their towing fee is R4900+... but don't forget to look at the 'other' charges</p> <p>Fourthly:</p> <p>They don't take your car to where it needs to go, in this case to the assessment centre my insurance company told them to take it to, they take it to their yard in Roodepoort. Which incurs additional costs.</p> <p>Do note: make sure you keep phoning your insurance to get them to move it to where it needs to be or you are going to have lots of problems.</p> <p> </p> <p>And finally:</p> <p>You can ask the JMPD to move your car for free to their yard. They are obliged to do it. </p> <p>Do not feel pressured, they will tell you all sorts of things, whether it is racsist remarks, or scare stories of dead people they have seen in accidents. They are very pushy.</p> <p> </p> <p>Make sure you stick your insurance sticker on your car.</p> <p> </p> <p>The only good thing from A1 Assist:</p> <p>They found some items left in my car, and stored them in a safe place for me to collect (things like a hard drive etc.)</p> <p>The told me to take lots of pictures of the incident, as well as pictures of the other guys car and drivers disk etc. </p> <p> </p>
