I placed ads on OLX and Gumtree for an item I am selling. I received a flash SMS from "Johan Verwey" asking me to contact him per email as he is interested in purchasing the item. I contacted them per email, and they asked if I have a PayFast account. I have a PayFast account but usually use it to make purchases, not receive payments. I contacted PayFast to ask them to help me set up a payment receipt. PayFast immediately asked me if I placed an ad on OLX / Gumtree. PayFast then asked me the name of the person who contacted me. I gave the name and PayFast advised me that that is one of the aliases ******** use on sites like that, and that PayFast will not be transacting with this person.

PayFast therefore helped me uncover ****, and prevented me from falling into this ******** trap. Thank you for your excellent help on this.
