John Gainsford less important to SA than Jono Lomu
I am disgusted about the way the media, among others, has handled the death of John Gainsford a truly South African great. 702 like the others seems to find it more fitting to laud Jonoh Lomu rather than our own greats. I have no problem with the reporting and coverage given to this great rugby player as it is deserved but ask why the same time hasn't been given to one of our own greats. In John's words \ he was still recognized in New Zealand as most likely the greatest centre to have toured that country".<br> My complaint is that when I phoned in to talk about this the attitude was to prevent me from presenting my case and the call screener just put the phone down on me.<br> I can only assume that 702 has no interest in callers on this show when they want to complain about of such bias reporting. <br> """

The majority of listeners wanted to talk about him yesterday. However, as you point out, John Robbie is aware of John Gainsford's greatness and paid tribute to him this morning - possibly due to your call yesterday. The call screeners work in a very fast-paced environment for the three hours that their show is on air and are under immense pressure to keep the show flowing. They do need to sometimes end a call that they know they can't take at that time, in order to take other calls, we apologise if it felt like they didn't care - it is an unfortunate side effect of the environment that they work in but we will remind them that listeners are affected by their attitude on the other end of the line.
