Complete Nightmare

Last year my family and I booked 7 Views self catering with a gentleman by the name of Mike Moreland for a week in Bloubergstrand. We were greeted warmly upon our arrival and handed the keys, little did we know we would be spending a week in hell.

The place was crawling with roaches. They were absolutely everywhere, from the inside of the cupboards to the inside of the fridge. We could not make use of the kitchen or crockery at all as the roaches roamed freely over everything.

The apartment has two bedrooms, but unfortunately all five of us were cramped into the main bedroom as it was the furthest away from the infestation. Despite my attempts at fumigation, the problem just worsened day by day.

The second morning of our stay, we were awakened by the most revolting odor coming from next door, it was so overwhelming and pungent that I honestly thought it smelled like a rotting corpse. I gave Melanie a call (the lady who gave us the keys) and asked her to check in on the neighbour to make sure everything was alright. We learned later that day that the neighbour is a hoarder and the other tenants have been struggling with this problem for a long time. I found it odd that both Melanie and Mike (the owner of the apartment) would fail to mention this to us prior to our arrival as they were both aware of the problem and how it would affect our stay, but they pretended they had no idea what odor I was describing.

Needless to say that for the rest of the week we were forced to keep all the windows closed, despite the heat wave Cape Town was having at the time as the smell was unbearable.

I tried contacting Mike but of course my messages go unanswered. We spent over R10 000 on accommodation alone and it was an absolute waste. I would not recommend this place to anyone. Not only is it uninhabitable but the owner has no regard for his guests and is clearly just interested in taking your money.
